Abstract Landscape Collage (Aug 8-9)

In this class, we will make most of our papers used in a collage. Then, using Carol’s NO FEAR sandwich technique, we will mount the collage on an 11x14” canvas board. The 11x14 will then be mounted on a 16x20.

Techniques:
Techniques used in making collage material include gloss medium resist paper, crushed/embossed aluminum foil, shaving cream paper, hot glue designs with metal leaf, inscribed patterns on textured paper, prepared Tyvek, and more.
Student Supply List
Your favorite FLUID acrylic paints - Carol prefers Golden fluid acrylics
One 11 x 14” canvas board
One 16 x 20” canvas board
11x14 tablet of 90 lb. mixed media paper
A 3” foil lid from a yogurt cup
Can of shaving cream (not gel) from the Dollar Store
Electric glue gun and glue stick (if you have one - or borrow instructor’s)
Gel medium or similar adhesive
Any collage ephemera you happen to have
The usual stuff:
short handled nylon brushes (3/4” flat, small detail brush)
scissors
water container
spray water bottle
ruler
palette
1” palette knife
paper towels
spray alcohol bottle (optional)
Kit Fee:
$10 (to be paid to the instructor by cash or check at time of class)
Includes use of materials listed below provided by instructor.
Supplies Provided by Instructor:
Various papers including deli paper, red rosin paper, aluminum foil, butcher paper, metal leaf, Tyvek, construction paper, printed art specialty papers, gloss medium with applicator tip, coffee filters, squeegees, foam core and embossing folders.
