 Overview:

The Intuitive process gives creatives the unique opportunity to stretch beyond their boundaries, to express emotion and discover the unexpected. We will create artwork that has something to say, whether it is in the literal sense of using words or simply knowing how to place color and textures so that your work lures the viewer in to seek and enjoy more. We will focus on abstracting the human figure and will use different mediums to create a powerful, expressive composition that is deeply personal. Art speaks volumes. In this workshop I will guide you in harnessing your intuitive creativity and creating visual storylines that uncover the power to express in your own unique voice.

Techniques:

Building a background by layering acrylics, pattern and color

Developing a figure(s) that helps express your concept

Exploring paint applications that change the expressiveness of your work

Shading and color development for building value

LINK to all my designs

Palette or palette pad or STA-WET Palette

(I prefer to use a sta-wet so my acrylic stays workable longer)

Heavy body acrylic paints.

Any and all colors that you want to work with. (This is my favorite Color palette to work with.)

Paintbrushes.

Bring your favorites, in a range of sizes. (don’t forget a big one or 2)

Spray bottle

Old towel or drop cloth (I like to spray a lot of water on my work to make the paint drip -  having a towel to catch the water helps to not make a mess)

Palette knife or wedge

Willow charcoal

Brush bucket

(to clean your brushes)

Paper towels

Baby wipes

An easel

(I like to work standing so I prefer a floor easel. Depending on the size of your canvas and your personal comfort bring whatever works for you)

NOTE: If you are into collage, consider bringing some Matte Medium. I have seen some really awesome additions of collage on student work.

Look like a good fit?
